| Where to get hair from? Now its time for you to get your hands on some hair that you can work with! There are many places online that sell great hair, such as - Restoredoll.com - I've ordered Katsilk hair from here before, and their service has been great! Katsilk hair is a lot finer and silkier than real mlp hair. It looks beautiful on customs, but might look odd on a restored pony as it won't look authentic.
Custompony.com - I have never ordered from here before, but I am EXTREMELY tempted, as they claim to stock the same hair that Hasbro uses for their ponies. I'm guessing this hair could be great for restorations! There are also other cost-effective ways to obtain hair. Keep an eye out for cheap wigs, especially after halloween! For example, I have picked up many $5 wigs from The Warehouse. Each wig is enough to fully rehair up to 4 ponies! I have also bought wigs from Geoff's Emporium. Sometimes you can pick up hairpieces at places like the $2 shop. I once saw a pack of clip-in coloured hair over there, which would be enough to rehair 1 pony. I have also used nylon rope from the hardware store, which I picked up extremely cheap. Buttered Popcorn was rehaired with this -
Once the rope has been unravelled and ironed out, it becomes EXTREMELY soft and silky, and looks cute and unique :) I have also used that super-curly doll hair which one can find in any craft store. Katsy was rehaired with this stuff, which I got for $4.50 a bag from Spotlight -
You can make this hair more manageble by ironing it (with a towel between the hair and iron of course!) and by massaging in heaps of conditioner. If you customise lots of ponies, be sure to save the manes and tails as these can be reused later. You could even use human hair! Save some next time you get your locks chopped off. Just keep your eyes open for hair deals :) Now that you have your hair, its time to prep it.
